Primary schools across Shropshire are coming on board now with Bookfest for Readers to Writers 2027 and we’d encourage you to sign up early to guarantee your school’s subsidised place.
This exciting creative writing project gives pupils an audience and a purpose for their writing.
Endorsed by research from the University of Worcester, it provides an adaptable, proven and successful approach to deliver the reading and writing component of KS1 and KS2 teaching for the Spring Term 2027.
- In-class author-led creative writing workshop in January 2027 for every class booked onto the project
- Class sets of books – one per child – by your workshop author
- One-day creative writing conference/CPD training day for 2 members of staff per class booked onto the project at The Trinity Centre, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury on Thursday 12th November 2026
- Detailed Teacher Pack to support running the project
- Support from a dedicated Bookfest co-ordinator
- Personalised comments on every pupil’s book from the Bookfest Reading Panel.
- An adaptable framework for teaching creative writing
- Two Twilight CPD sessions during the Spring term to help deliver the Readers to Writers project in your classroom
- Fortnightly newsletters with additional teaching resources, top tips and reminders.
