Nearly 750 children in 24 primary schools have been busy reading the six fantastic books shortlisted for Picture Book Award 2026.

They cast their votes for their favourite at the end of June – and we’ve been busy counting (and re-counting) them all. (The final result was very close!)

Please have a look at our film, where Simone Goward, our Schools & Volunteers Coordinator, reveals which book has won Shropshire Bookfest Picture Book Award 2026!

You can also enjoy seeing some of the children’s beautiful artwork and imaginative class responses that all the shortlisted books have inspired.
