Schools’ Week 2021 – creative writing competition gets underway

So we are nearing the end of the Schools’ Week 2021 project.

Over 1300 primary school pupils across Shropshire are now hard at work writing their very own books to enter into the county-wide creative writing competition.  Using their skills drawn from their author-mentor workshops that have been especially created for their classes and the extensive resources, films and links in the Project Resource Centre children now have the opportunity to let their creative juices flow with confidence and freedom.

Closing date for entries:

The closing date for entries has been pushed back to 11th June 2021 to allow pupils more time to complete their books given the school closures at the beginning of the year.  Entries are to be sent to:  Mrs A McGowan, 34 Kennedy Road, Shrewsbury, SY3 7AB.

Judging & Winners:

There will be a KS1 winner and KS2 winner from each of the 22 schools taking part in this project – they will each receive a prize and certificate.  These winning books will go forward with all the other school winners across the project and 1st – 3rd and Highly Commended will be awarded to KS1 and to KS2.

We will also like to recognise those children who have been positively affected by the writing of their own story, engaged in the project and produced a piece of work above and beyond their usual capabilities.  Teachers are encouraged to discuss this further with their Bookfest Coordinator.

We will announce all the school and the overall, top winners on 30th June 2021 – full details of how this will be celebrated will made public nearer the time.
