Coronavirus Update Picture Book Award 2020

We are conscious that the ongoing situation caused by the Coronavirus is causing continued changes to everyone’s plans.  Nevertheless, we are still proceeding with the Picture Book Award 2020 project in line with the overwhelming consensus of opinion given by a number of schools with whom we’ve had conversations with recently.

However, whilst the opinion is that teachers would happily run this project in June, due to the uncertainty as to how and when schools will reopen in the coming weeks and to ensure that all participating 26 schools are able to make full use of this project we have taken the decision to postpone this project until Monday 14th September.

Whilst the decision to postpone is certainly not ideal, we’re keen to make sure that every part of the project runs smoothly, that we have all the materials required and that all children have the opportunity to fully participate. Therefore postponement feels like the right thing to do for now.

We plan to deliver all books and support materials into schools w/c Monday 7th September which will hopefully mark a great start to the new academic year, giving teachers a wonderful way to help get to know their new classes. Voting taking place on Friday 25th September.
