Malamander

About the book:

Nobody visits Eerie-on-Sea in the winter. Especially not when darkness falls and the wind howls around Maw Rocks and the wreck of the battleship Leviathan, where even now some swear they have seen the slimy Malamander creep… Herbert Lemon, Lost-and-Founder at the Grand Nautilus Hotel, knows that returning lost things to their rightful owners is not easy – especially when the lost thing is not a thing at all, but a girl.

No one knows what happened to Violet Parma’s parents twelve years ago, and when she engages Herbie to help her find them, the pair discover that their disappearance might have something to do with the legendary sea-monster, the Malamander. Eerie-on-Sea has always been a mysteriously chilling place, where strange stories seem to wash up. And it just got stranger…

I didn’t really like this book because I think it was too hard for some children.

This was one of the greatest books I have ever read! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes danger, mystery or even a little bit of horror (but just the right amount, not too much) It was and will always be my 100% favourite Bookfest book.

This is my favourite book so far, it has a mix between comedy for the names and mystery for thinking about something which is actually wrong. This is a brilliant book and I highly recommend to people who like fun and exciting books. This book gets better with every page.

Malamander is an amazing book for people who like mystery or adventure books. I loved the suspenseful start and I enjoyed the book all the way through. The only downside of it was because it was a bit annoying with the names. I enjoyed this book a lot and I would recommend this book but only if you like books that are about monsters. I also loved the sense of excitement in it. 7/10

This is a funny, suspenseful and scary book all in one. I would definitely recommend to people who like fish stories like Jaws. My favourite character is probably the Malamander because it does whatever it can to protect something very special…

I loved Malamander because it is a creative book and younger children will find it really interesting. People who love adventures will enjoy this book as it is very outgoing and the characters are inspiring. Violet is really crazy and strong. She is an amazing, independent young girl who knows what she wants and will do what she needs to get it. Herbie is so nice and a bit of a wimp but will always be there for Violet. Thank you for writing this book, it was incredible.

I expected it to be a fun and exciting book, which would make me want to read more and not put the book down. It is scary mysterious and fun book to read.

It is about a mysterious shore called Erie-on-sea; no wants to go down there especially at night when there is strange howling, screams and unusual movements and fish monster shapes. A boy called Herbert who works at a lost and found has a visit from a strange girl called Violet she wants to find her parents she was the lost child her parents left her at the hotel, and she is determined to find them.

Malamander is a gripping adventure book that is amazing. The plot is great and it has a good amount of characters with thought through details. My favorurite character was Herbie as he is funny and a bit clumsy. I would recommend this book to people who like a little bit scary and adventurous books. My favourite part was the where Violet falls through the window at the beginning.

Malamander is a great book about a monster at Eerie-on-sea I liked this book because it was interesting to read and quite intense at times in this book and a part was quite scary. So if you like a intense, scary and monster filled book this is it. You will have a lot of pages to read 301.

If you ever find yourself in front of a sea monster be careful what you wish for, it might give you exactly what you asked for! Whilst reading don’t forget to bring a lucky item because those young adventurers get themselves into a lot of mischief and at points they had one foot in the grave, not quite how a lost and founder should go out I should think. Reading this I found my love of the ocean, maybe you will find a love of something too? As I read this it became harder and harder to put down and I ended up reading when I was supposed to be doing something else (like in lessons, oops!) Be sure to read this at some point because it was almost definitely my favourite! A thrilling book of all my favourite things, life on a haunted shore, boats, adventure and best of all MYSTERY…

I love this book, as it contains a mystery within. The further you get through the sequence of jaw-dropping events, the greater the book becomes. It’s as if the mystery of the Malamander in Cheerie-on-Sea is actually going on. Maybe the next time you go to the beach, as the Winter gusts are wailing, you’ll watch as the “CH” of the sign of Cheerie-on-Sea plummets down onto the frosted cobble, and perhaps you’ll see something crawling across the wet sand in an uncanny manner as the tide goes out, as it gets closer…
