Art Competition 2020

Using art to express and review the shortlisted books in Book Award 2020


As their Young Arts Project for 2020, the The Arts Society, Shrewsbury Branch generously supported the art competition for schools taking part in the BIG Book Award 2020 project.

Entry Criteria:

  • Children were invited to submit one picture illustrating a scene from one of the shortlisted books.
  • Children were able to use any medium they chose except collage.

     

Judging:

The Judging Panel included teachers as well as artists and specialists from The Arts Society, Shrewsbury Branch.  Judges considered the following to help make the final decision:

  • Picture composition (use of the formal elements)
  • Effective depiction of the chosen scene
  • Technical skills. g.  Application of media/quality of drawing
  • Creativity and originality

 

Public Display:

The winning pictures and best entries will go on display in the public foyer at the Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery, The Music Hall, Market St, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY1 1LG as soon as ‘lockdown’ restrictions are lifted.

Bookfest spent an amazing morning yesterday at Gre Bookfest spent an amazing morning yesterday at Greenfields Primary School with Beech, Poplar and Oak classes who with their fantastic teachers have taken the Readers to Writers 2023 project to the maximum by producing some wonderful creative writing. The freedom they've been given to let their imaginations fly is producing results that are taking their teachers by surprise. Good luck everyone and huge congratulations on becoming AUTHORS!
