The Boy Who Met a Whale by Nizrana Farook

Big Book Award 2022 shortlister:

From the author of The Girl Who Stole an Elephant comes another brilliant escapade. A thrilling adventure set in fictional Sri Lanka, jam-packed with peril and kidnap and a huge blue whale!

Razi, a local fisherboy, is watching turtle eggs hatch when he sees a boat bobbing into view. With a chill, he notices a small, still hand hanging over the side… Inside is Zheng, who’s escaped a shipwreck and is full of tales of sea monsters and missing treasure. But the villains who are after Zheng are soon after Razi and his sister, Shifa, too. And so begins an exhilarating adventure in the shadow of the biggest sea monster of them all…

If you like sort of adventure books then this is a great read. I liked this but I feel like they don’t mention the whale much and dragged it on a bit too long

I have finished reading this book now and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading every page, because it is a page-turner with lots of suspicion. This book is also action-packed with adventures and lots of drama, and you get stuck in from page 1! I also love the storyline and the backstory of each character. I would highly recommend.

I really like this book and I think it is quite an interesting idea. I think it could have been more about the whales baring in mind the book is called ‘The Boy Who Met A Whale’ but I enjoyed the amount of action and the slight part of mystery.

The Boy Who Met A Whale is a really good book because at the start Razi found the boy in a boat. It was exciting when he was floating closer because I thought the whale was underneath. I liked the ending because it was happy.

This book was really fun and I enjoyed the all time, intense, but there should be a bit where it explains everything as for some people it can make no sense for like starter readers. So this is a 5/5 for me.

The Boy who met a Whale was impeccable because it was intriguing and dragged me into the life of the characters. The story has a lot of tension in it like how Razi’s father had passed on. I enjoyed this book because it had terrific description and tension for the reader and was really engaging.

I loved it! The short chapters made it way easer to read. There was one thing that confused me. It was when they thought a whale was a shark how do they not see the difference? Otherwise I found it amazing! When one of them fell into the sea it scared me to death! I am really happy this made the short list!

I have recently started The Boy Who Met A Whale 🐋. I am enjoying it but I don’t feel like it is as gripping as the other books. As I am so new to it, I can’t really recommend it but I have heard it is an adventure book so if you like lots of action I think you will enjoy this book.
        Happy reading everyone!

The book was the best book I have ever read and the best part is when in every chapter the scene changes from Razi and Shifa fighting the weather of the island to Zheng trying to out skill Marco and Cook and try to find Razi and Shifa and find the treasure that was a knife.
