A Bottle of Happiness

There was once a big mountain. The people on one side were rich and worked only to get richer. The people on the other side of the mountain were poor but had a wealth of stories and laughter. One day a poor young boy decides to seek a new story and this leads him to the rich people’s marketplace. He would love one of the ripe pieces of fruit, but what can a poor boy trade?

Find out if it is possible to bottle and share happiness in this timeless fable, exquisitely illustrated in an eye-opening and unusual style.

About the author:

As a child, Pippa struggled with learning to read, so feels very strongly about offering children interesting and accessible stories to help them read and enjoy reading.

At sixteen, Pippa began a Saturday job in Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge. For the next five years she continued working at Heffers during school and university holidays as she did a History degree at Leeds University and a PGCE in primary school teaching at Durham University.  She then worked as a ‘reader’, assessing children’s book submissions for Oxford University Press, at the same time as working in a play school.

Over the last twenty-six years Pippa has had hundreds of books published including ‘You Choose’ – selling over a million copies and the ‘Winnie the Witch’ storybooks, written under the name ‘Laura Owen’.

Pippa is leading creative writing workshops in primary schools across Shropshire for the Shrewsbury Bookfest Schools’ Week 2021 project.
