Sara-Jane Arbury is a writer, performer and workshop facilitator.  She has been a long-timer supporter of Shrewsbury Bookfest’s Book Award project.

To further help children examine and enjoy the shortlisted books, Sara-Jane has written a poem for each title in the Big Book Award project and performs them here:

Writer, performer and workshop facilitator. Sara-Jane has enjoyed fruitful collaborations with organisations such as Arts Council England, BBC, Oxford University Press, NAWE, The Poetry Society, Apples & Snakes and Bloodaxe Books. She was Voices Off Director at Cheltenham Literature Festival for eleven years. Sara-Jane works with schools and is an outreach poet for Ledbury Poetry Festival. She has undertaken many residencies and commissions, including Writer-in-Residence for Herefordshire, Leopardstown Races for RTÉ, Bristol Galleries shopping mall and Oxford Bus Company. She has performed her poetry on television and radio, and at festivals such as Glastonbury, Hay-on-Wye, Port Eliot and Edinburgh. She devises bespoke events, interactive murder mysteries and touring poetry-theatre shows for adults and children, and has poems published in pamphlets and anthologies.

Bookfest spent an amazing morning yesterday at Gre Bookfest spent an amazing morning yesterday at Greenfields Primary School with Beech, Poplar and Oak classes who with their fantastic teachers have taken the Readers to Writers 2023 project to the maximum by producing some wonderful creative writing. The freedom they've been given to let their imaginations fly is producing results that are taking their teachers by surprise. Good luck everyone and huge congratulations on becoming AUTHORS!
